What are Bryophytes:
Though bryophytes are terrestrial in nature, they spend some of life event in water. They need water for proper growth of vegetative body like thallus. For dehiscence of sex organs and successful fertilization i.e the sperms requires water for swimming and reaching to the eggs. Without water, bryophytes cannot complete the life cycle.
That's why bryophytes are called Amphibians of the plant kingdom.
